PHC Audiologist: Sandra Brown, M.A.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up on a family farm outside of Holton, Kansas. My Dad and Grandmother had grown up on the same farm.

Where did you go to school?

I attended Holton High School and completed my undergraduate and graduate degrees at Kansas State University. Through high school I was planning on becoming a Physical Therapist, but after a summer job as a PT assistant in a hospital, I decided I didn't care for the hospital setting so promptly changed my major to Communicative Disorders. After a semester in speech clinic and a couple of intro courses in Audiology, I was hooked. It was a good choice! Audiology has always provided the perfect job for the different phases of my life.

What is your favorite area of audiology?

I really enjoy the change of pace vestibular testing provides. I like spending the extended time with the patient and hopefully providing those pieces of the puzzle.

At what office(s) do you work?

I work primarily at the Broadway location. The front booth seems to be my domain. I do enjoy the occasional venture to Merriam.

Now some fun questions! What’s your favorite television show?

My favorite TV show is "Blue Bloods," especially the family dinner scenes. I also have to admit I tape "The Young and the Restless."

If you could bring back any fashion trend, what would it be?

Hose need to come back! So many trends cycle and show up again, but not these. They were great for someone as pale as me.

If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?

We live five minutes south of our son and his family and five minutes north of our daughter and her family--it is the perfect place in the world for Grams and Pops!
