PHC Audiologist: Lynsey Ralston, Au.D.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in O'Fallon, MO near St. Louis.

Where did you go to school?

I attended Timberland High School in Wentzville, MO, Rockhurst University for my Bachelors in Science majoring in Communication Sciences & Disorders and Psychology. I graduated from the University of Kansas for my Doctorate in Audiology.

Why did you want to become an audiologist?

I pursued education in Audiology for several reasons. Growing up with hearing loss, my audiologist and otologist were vital parts to my hearing healthcare. With my academic and future life goals in mind, I chose Audiology because I knew I could connect with my patients on a deeper, personal level by understanding the nature of hearing loss. Hearing loss is often an invisible health issue that often goes untreated because of the invisibility. I believed, and still do, that if I could connect my personal experience with hearing loss with patients' then I could help others have access to the world of sound we live in through Audiology.

What is your favorite area of audiology?

This is a hard question. I truly believe all of audiology is interesting. I have chosen to take a particular interest in managing patients with tinnitus and hyperacusis. However, I find seeing patients with ear related symptoms to be my favorite. I thrive on puzzles, taking a whole person approach to hearing healthcare management, and hearing people's concerns. My favorite part of audiology is addressing needs of each individual person that walks through my office.

At what office(s) do you work?

I typically see patients at our Lee's Summit, Liberty, and Broadway offices.

Now some fun questions! What’s your favorite television show?

My favorite TV show would have to be anything on the Food Network - I love Guy's Grocery Games!

If you could bring back any fashion trend, what would it be?

If I had to choose, I'd probably bring back mule Birkenstocks - those were my go to shoe that went with everything.

If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?

If I could be anywhere, it would be with my family at the beach. Take me somewhere warm with a place to relax to be with family and I am happy!
