PHC Audiologist: Erika Ward, Au.D.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Overland Park, KS.

Where did you go to school?

I graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School. I then attended University of Kansas for both my bachelors in Communication Disorders and my masters in Audiology. I received my Doctorate in Audiology from Salus University.

Why did you want to become an audiologist?

Growing up, I knew I wanted to have a career in healthcare. Starting college I took introductory classes to find a fit. I was lucky enough to take the intro communication disorders class and fell in love with audiology.

What is your favorite area of audiology?

Adult treatment of hearing loss is my favorite. I also really enjoy educating people. Counseling individuals on their test results and options available to them is my favorite part of audiology.

At what office(s) do you work?

Legends (Kansas City, KS), Anderson County Hospital (Garnett, KS) and Merriam, KS.

Now some fun questions! What’s your favorite television show?

I really don’t watch much TV. I would rather read a book or listen to an audiobook!

If you could bring back any fashion trend, what would it be?

I love bright lipstick, especially bright red.

If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?
